How To Repair The Acer D2D Recovery

The first cause often comes owing to the fact that function D2D Recovery is disable in the bios (menu principal).

The solution : enable the function and try to press keys ALT+F10 during the starting of the computer.

The second cause : in this case hidden partition PQSERVICE was erased or damaged, or you replaced the disc and in this case it is not present.

The solution : If you did not previously make a backup of your system by making an image disc. It will not be possible to use the D2D recovery. Your only hope will be to have in your possession Acer Recovery CD/DVD.

And the third causes : the Acer Master Boot Record (MBR)was damaged or replaced by non-Acer MBR. As long as partition PQSERVICE is present or that you can put the hand on the necessary Acer files you can reinstall the MBR of Acer.

The solution :

First method : on a functional Windows system:

1 disable the D2D recovery option of the bios.

2 open a Windows session with an account administrator.

3 Download, unzip and launch partedit32(registration required for download).

4 Identify the Pqservice partition by its size (at the bottom of the partedit window there is a partition information box) it is a small sized partition approximately 2 to 6 Go.Once made change the type of your partition into 0C and save. Restart and open a session with an administrator account, you should be able to navigate to the PQservice partition. Seek these two files mbrwrdos.exe and rtmbr.bin once localised open a command prompt and launch this command mbrwrdos.exe install rtmbr.bin, this will install the Acer MBR. Close the command prompt window restart again Windows go into the bios and reactivate the D2D recovery. Now ALT+F10 should launch Acer recovery at the starting of the computer.

Second method : On a nonfunctional Windows system.

For that you must use a Linux distribution (for me Mandriva provided all the tools necessary).

1 Boot on the Mandriva install CD/DVD the boot menu will give you the possibility to repair or to restore the Windows boot loader.

2 If that is not enough launch an installation of linux(this will be an occasion to test this terrible OS) and choose LILO as boot loader(a boot menu that allow you to choose between several operating systems) once finished the installation. Restart your computer in the boot loader menu system you will have at least 2 Windows options the first generally point to PQservice choose it and you will boot directly into acer D2D recovery.

The last solution is the simplest one, just note that during the Linux installation you will have to resize your Windows partition to create a place for a new Linux partition it is the most perilous part because irreversible, therefore take your precautions at this time.

Profit is an indicator of business success. All business owners need to understand how to calculate profit. Businesses are not sustainable without earning profit. Small business owners are susceptible to changes in their products, customers, competition and markets; and that susceptibility impacts profits.

First, it is important to understand how to calculate profit. The profit equation is Total Revenue minus Total Expenses equals Profit. The definition of total revenue in this article includes income from sales and business operations, investment income and other revenue sources. The definition of total expenses includes costs such as your utilities, rent, labor, materials, transportation, insurance, marketing costs, supplies, taxes, debt interest, and other costs incurred by operating your business. The profit (or loss) is the amount that is left over after you subtract total expenses from total revenue during a defined period.

Profit 101 - Understanding How to Calculate Profit and Improve Gross Profit Margin

Understanding your profit and how revenue and expenses impact your profit calculation is the first step in becoming a profit-driven business (there are other drivers that should also be important to your business: customers, employees, suppliers, quality, service, and more). Part of your growth strategy needs to target acceptable (or better) profit goals and needs to identify how you will achieve those goals (sell more, cut costs, diversify, etc.).

Your business sustainability is dependent on producing reasonable profits. It is important that you plan to be profitable and then execute your plan. But plan for a reasonable profit. Some small business clients I have worked with have forecast impossible-to-achieve sales revenues; and impossible-to-achieve profits. Then, when they don't achieve either, they are disappointed and discouraged. Be realistic. Understand your market, your costs, your potential sales; then plan for an achievable profit.

Once you have calculated your profit goals and put your small business plan into place to achieve those goals, turn your focus on understanding and managing your gross profit margin. Gross profit margin is net sales revenue minus cost of goods sold (COGS) - not including your administration expenses and selling expenses, and then divided by net sales revenue. (In a merchandising operation, COGS includes beginning inventory, plus inventory purchases, minus ending inventory.) Your gross profit margin targets range within industry: typically from a high of 70 per cent (highly automated manufacturing plants) to a low of 30 per cent (highly manual operations). So find out what your industry average is: talk to lending institutions - they often have that data or talk to your industry association - they can often find out that information.

Ensure that you target a better than average gross profit margin and then organize your business to achieve it (by increasing sales, adding new products or services, diversifying, aligning with other providers, decreasing costs, and other options). If you focus on achieving a good gross profit margin for your business, your business will be on solid financial ground.

It can happen to anyone. We accidentally delete an email that we really need. And it just happened to be important work file, attachment or picture. So now what? How can I recover that email? Is it at all possible? Surely, it can be permanently deleted?

Well, there is good news and bad news.

Let's start with the good news.

If you delete an email, it hasn't really gone anywhere. Even if you've emptied your recycle bin or the "Trash" folder in your Inbox - the email still isn't deleted. It's just that your computer system now has no way to figure out where it is. But it's there, still on your hard drive. By using special email recovery tools you can recover deleted emails because these programs identify these 'missing' files and can bring them back to life.

Now the bad news.

Act Quickly and Increase Your Chances

The bad news is you have to act quickly. You only have a small time-frame in which to try to attempt to recover your lost email. Every minute that you waste and continue to use the drive for anything that isn't related to recovering your emails, you severely decrease your chances of successful email recovery. Why?

Well, because your hard drive is constantly overwriting files to make space for new information you put into it. If your hard drive is full and there is not much space or memory available - it is highly probable that the email has already been overwritten and deleted - permanently.

Other Problems with Recovering Deleted Emails

Not all deleted or lost emails go to "Trash" folder. If you have suffered a computer crash or hardware failure or your operating system is corrupted in some way, then it is unlikely that emails you have deleted can be recovered.

Also, if you haven't opened the email at all or it hasn't been deleted the usual way due to file corruption, you probably will have less of a chance to recover and restore the email in its entirety.

Nothing to Lose

Recover deleted email programs search and locate the emails that you have deleted. You can search by entering a specific keyword for example. Then, you can choose to preview the email to see it's contents and if it's been recovered in its original state by the program. You can also select to scan for what ever email program you are using (and need to recover) - either web based emails such as Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail or Outlook Express.

Best bit is this. Most of these email recovery programs are free to download. When they start scanning your hard drive looking for the deleted email and then manage to find it and when you are completely satisfied that that's your missing email - then you can then proceed to purchase the software.

In essence, you have nothing to lose (if the email is not there - it's not there) and everything to gain.

Well, at least you can get your deleted email back.

There are two main methods of recovering data from failed hard drives.

First of all, you can run specialized data recovery software that could retrieve all of your important data files. In the majority of cases, you will be able to recover the data from your failed hard drives without too much trouble using data recovery freeware, or purchase fully supported software if you prefer.

Please note hat data recovery is not always possible if the actual problem is due to aging or faulty hard drive component such as a broken head arm. In those extra-ordinary cases you would have the hardware fixed by an expert technician before being able to access any of the precious data on the hard drive.

How to Recover Data From Failed Hard Drives

As far as data recovery in concerned, there are no limitations to the physical size of your hard drive. Whether you are trying to recover data from a 1 MB pen drive or a 300 GB Ultra-SCSI drive, you should still be able to recover the data.

Additionally, there are no limitations to the different types of operating systems which you may be trying to recover data from, such as Microsoft Windows to Linux systems. This also extends to include different file formats such as FAT32 and NTFS which are very common file formats for Windows systems, or the Mac OS file system used by Apple Macs.

Information can be retrieved from all sectors of the hard drive - even files that you may have deleted in the past which had ended up in recycle bin prior to your hard drive failing would be recoverable.

Secondly, data recovery experts will be able to recover lost data from most damaged hard drives. It's not surprising that most common damage is attributable to drop damage and spill damage, especially in the case of laptops.

At the corporate level, most companies use RAID (redundant array of inexpensive disks) configurations to protect their data and to negate the impact of a single hard disk drive failing. There would be no loss of data if one of the disks in a RAID 5 disk-set failed as you would be able to re-construct the data for the failed member from the remaining disks. However, if the entire RAID volume failed, then that would be a cause for concern.

In the case of a RAID volume failing you would have little alternative but to send your hard drives to a data recovery expert to restore the RAID configuration as well as the data. This would also be the case if your disk partition failed and you were unable to access the data held on that particular partition or disk.

The recovery of your important data and files from failed hard drives is possible using data recovery software. If your hard drives are badly damaged, or the RAID volume-set has failed and the data on the hard disks is inaccessible, requesting professional assistance from data recovery experts would be a better option.
